Held at the Westergasfabriek, an old coal gas plant, the festival’s name and logo are inspired by electricity. The geometric design was inspired by electronic music and evokes the Bauhaus and de Stijl movements. The colours are also borrowed from these movements, as well as the Dutch flag. The store’s rebranding aims to attract a younger crowd with a modern, minimalist design. I used a black and white image of Vancouver’s Gastown, where Umbrella Records is located, with bright orange accents to represent the joys of good music on a rainy day. This billboard and the 6sheets include a group of Cornish surfers and Scottish ski tourers. To do this, we color-drenched the truck in our signature light teal and ran our zigzag brand pattern along the sides. The surfboard sign references the design of the prop surfboard in White Stuff’s SS25 shop windows.
